Greetings!

Another good diet day. We are so committed. Harold is psyched and over the top, of course he is losing faster than I and eating more, but that is understandable. Some would say it is a man's world.
WW is so easy with two working at it and two committing to it. Today's breakfast was oatmeal, we (read Harold) cook it in 6 or 8 serving batches and save in individual pre-measured bowls for the next 3 or 4 days. It makes it easier (clean the pot once) and we both like those cooked cereals. Harold puts a few raisins in the bottom of each bowl, a little surprise there. Whoopee!
Lunch is often those wonderful sandwich rounds, each only one point. We fill it with stuff, piled high with lettuce, onions and tomatoes. In the past I resisted ersatz foods: mayo substitutes, butter substitutes, egg substitutes etc. but now I embrace them. It is healthier and lower in points.
Interesting point: when eating one of the fat Skinny Cow Fudge Bars it is one point, 2 of them equals 3 points (not two points as you might imagine) so that is good to know in counting points. On the other hand, fake mayo is zero points for one T. But once you slip over the edge to two Tablespoons, which then becomes one point, you can actually go up to about 4 Tablespoons before reaching 2 points. Thus a good mayo-y tuna salad or egg salad.
Exercise: currently FL is bitterly cold. The sun is bright and warm but the wind from the north is wild. The walk, south, on the beach was fairly nice, wind at the back. But upon turning around, ack! A brutal, heads down, push to the north. Felt like we were dressed for skiing. White sand was blowing around and the effect was complete. We even saw a pole walker, thus it was like seeing a X-country skier. I know some of you feel our pain, NOT. Our preferred time of day to walk is before sunrise: peaceful, quiet, beautiful and we are full of energy (and we don't have to fit it in later). These days we are waiting for noon to walk. Not so suitable for us but warmer. It will change. Many Januarys this far south are in the 80's on a regular basis. Our usual walk is 2-3 miles but we expect to be back to 4 miles soon. I try to climb the stairs to the eleventh floor once daily. Call it a 'stair-master'.
Dinner: this part I love, a WW meal, pre-measured and points all figured, and a salad or a heap of vegetables on the side. Very filling and very easy. Lean Cuisine is also good. Harold will often cook a great meal of stir fry, or chicken cacciatore or some other delicious entree. Wilma sacrifices some food points for wine or vodka. A girl has gotta do what she has gotta do.
In the evening we feast on the above mentioned Skinny Cow Fudge Bars. Or some little chocolate treat with 100 calories and 1 or 2 points.
Observation: the first couple of weeks can be confusing, difficult, big learning curve, mistakes of omission, and so forth. But persevere, take heart, work on one thing at a time, take your time, don't have crazy expectations, etc. and it falls into place very quickly.

Well, here we are. Interesting and easy process for setting up a blog. I may know more than I think I do to get this far. So much I don't understand but will get there I presume.
The beginning of a new year and new decade. Welcome 'twenty ten'. The resolution and the goal is to continue with the WW Diet and to exercise. Care to follow along? Can't promise excitement but maybe results.
In spite of the frigid Florida temperatures (and bright sun) we altered the usual routine of walking pre-sunrise and walked after noon. Still darn cold. Just did the usual 2 miles.
History: Harold and Wilma began Weight Watchers sometime in early November. We have exercised religiously, and followed the diet to the best of our ability. To date, Harold has lost 12 pounds and I have lost 8. This after Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, parties and a trip to Disney World for 5 days. We are psyched and finding it easy with two of us counting points, shopping, planning and encouraging each other. We are claiming this our new lifestyle. Harold is doing a lot of the cooking and it is working out well, at least I am liking it. H researches recipes and off we go. Of course, as a man he gets more points for food and loses faster than I. Is this justice? 'Fraid so. We are finding we can eat anything we want, but it is all a tradeoff and the decision is ours to make. I, personally, trade food points for wine!
